Dear !fname:

(If you want to skip this email and go right to the "serious"report about Curt's time in Fiji, go to www.johnsonfamilymissions.org)

On the lighter side in Fiji . . .

Living and working cross culturally has many moments that are hard to convey, and your sense of humor must be available continually;

*Arriving in Fiji meeting a good friend that I made during the IWT greeted me with - "Bula Curt, You have gained weight!" (In many cultures that is considered a nice thing to say :-)

*After a red eye flight, it was nice for a large toad to joinme for a very cold shower.

*I've decided to let the big black spiders stay in my buru (hut)They have assured me they will eat insects and not bite me.

*My note taking for my teaching the book of Acts was so captivating that a coachroach fell from the ceiling right on to them, and an army of tiny ants came from the floor to see all about it.

*Wanting more excercise to lose the much noticed weight, it wasamsome to see the Lord provide two opportunities to push ourvehichles out of the huge mud pot holes they got stuck in.

*They staff must have all noticed my weight gain and quickly changed the menu so I wouldn't be tempted to over eat.

*I did get to the big town after navigating hundreds of potholesthat could easily hide a small car, and was able to check my email - after I figured out how to change the default language on the browser. (I think it was Chinese?) It is not easy to change language on a computer when the menus are in the language you don't know.

*We'll I am off to my 4th shower for the day (I hope Mr. Toad joins me again )- to rinse off the mud from our awesome workouts and since it is so hot here (I'm sure that must be why they keep the showers cold!)

From the guy who never liked camping -

Please continue on to our web site to read about the "real" update!

Grace & Peace to You!

PS: Just back from my very cold shower and wanted to let you know that Mr. Toad did not dissappoint me, IN FACT, he invited 8 of his friends, but when I showed up the party ended quickly. How did the toads know I'm not much for parties?
