Presentation Tools

By presentation tools we mean those media items that you need to create for when you are physically in front of a potential supporter, or group of supporters. These same tools may be used by others to help spread the word of your work also. Here are a list of possible presentation tools for you to consider:

DVD: Put together a short DVD presentation of your work. If you do not have access to do this, take some footage from one of your organizations presentations, and then insert a 1 to 2 minute caption stating your vision. Anyone with a digital video camera should be able to take that for you, and there will be someone who will be able to compile it into one file for you on their computer.

PowerPoint: This tool is common place now in disseminating information. The software is not hard to learn, but if you don't have the time or desire, ask a friend to put it together for you. You can give him the text in a Word or similar document, along with any digital pictures you want included. Be sure to end the presentation with your contact information and web site address.

Prayer Card: This is a small, usually laminated, piece that has your picture, a bit about your mission work, and your contact information on it. Anywhere from a business card size to 4 x 6 inches can be used for this purpose. The goal is to give it to supporters and potential supporters to put up on their refrigerator or another place to be reminded to pray for you everyday!

Brochure or Flip Chart: These are basically outdated in todays world, but if you are in a developing country where media and technology has not been developed, they may still be appropriate for fundraising efforts. An overview in print of the content you would include in a DVD or PowerPoint Presentation would suffice. Actually doing a PowerPoint presentation and then printing it out screen by screen is your best option for when you can not use a computer or DVD player.

Tip: Be sure to practice and test your presentation equipment before your meeting!

These along with a current newsletter will serve you well when presenting your mission work. Be sure to leave the newsletters and prayer cards with them. The presentation tools are just one aspect of your presentation, and a DVD and/or PowerPoint presentation should only be 5 - 15 minutes of a 30 - 45 minute entire presentation.
