Fundraising Newbie Action Plan
Support raising can seem overwhelming at first, as can all the information on this site. "What should I do if I am just starting?" First and foremost, dedicate your fundraising to the Lord in prayer! As with all aspects of your missions work, devote yourself to be led by the Spirit of God. Raising support is just as "spiritual" as evangelism or anything else. Here is my suggested plan of action to get you going quickly. (More details for each step are found in this web site. For advanced training, subscribe to our FYi Newsletter and gain access to our secure area.) #1. Create a list of at least 200 people you know.
#2. Create at least one tool of communication for your missions work.
Communication Tools
or a
Newsletter.
(Don't forget to
personalize your newsletter.)
#3. Visit with the top 30 people on your list ONE-ON-ONE. Of course this may be one-on-two or, two-on-two if you there are couples. Present your missions work, and ask them to be a partner. #4. Meet in small and/or home groups with the rest of the list of 200. Of the 170 left on the list, have 10 - 12 small group gatherings, and if possible ask one of the "30" people to host an evening for you. Present your missions work, and ask for partners.
#5. Create your first Newsletter and mail to everyone on your list of 200 people. Be sure to include a cover letter that personalizes each one, and if they met with you or pledged to be a partner - thank them! The details and techniques to do the above are found in this site. It is reasonable to hope for 20 - 30 partners giving an average of $40 - $100/partner if you are able to do the above face to face. With favor from the Lord, and proper skills you can learn on this site, your starting base after this could be $1000/month or more. Your results will be less if done over the phone.
