Curt's Missionary Stories

Curt shares some stories from his life: missionary stories, family stories, church stories, etc. In each of these stories he hopes to:

#1. Inspire faith for you to fulfill your destiny. He learned through 30 years of preaching that people will remember your stories more than they will remember your main points. These are some of his favorite personal stories he uses in his preaching.

#2. Cause you to think "outside the box." We are all trapped to one degree or another in habitual ways of thinking. Many of these thought processes are not Kingdom ways. None of us are 100% like Jesus yet! Your paradigms may be hindering your support raising training.

#3. Give you examples on how to write stories. Putting stories in print for your newsletter, website, etc is a powerful ingredient for your support raising. Your supporters want to hear about your journey - not just the pragmatic (when, where, how, etc) - BUT a personal story gives life to your communication.

You are more than welcome to use these stories also. Remember one of the tips shared in this website is borrowed credibility. If you don't have stories of your own, share someone else's! The closer the person is to you in your work, the better, but anyone's story can help you communicate. For example, you could introduce one of these stories like:

"A fellow YWAMer shared this story with me - "

"A fellow missionary shared this story with me - "

If your base is active in a project that you are just starting with, share a story in the "We."

"We are taking the next step in our outreach to Countryzzz, here is what happened last time we went there - "

Don't ever misrepresent yourself, but it is totally legitamate to cultivate the corporate mindset about your missions work. After all - its not about you :-)

So - here are some of my favorite stories. Come back often as I plan to add to this list often:
